There are many stable kernels out there for ICS – HTC Evo 3D, I have personally tried almost every kernel but there were some bugs like CPU1 governor is not hitting at ondemand settings so there were lag issues and other performance issues while playing games etc. Finally, I found a stable ICS kernel name as ButteredToast, which is almost stable in both performance vs battery and you can use it with any ICS Rom including AOSP.
ButteredToast Kernel is a brilliant work by XDA Senior Member bigwillyg after many months of studying. According to bigwillyg, this kernel is fully compatible with CDMA/GSM and CM10/AOSP/ICS Roms. This kernel is very easy to install as it is Aroma Installer enabled, which is self explanatory and fully compatible via 4ext Recovery.
Simply, your device should be rooted which is a must step, then install 4ext Recovery and install this kernel via 4ext Recovery. After that Aroma Installer will guide you through the rest of the process.
